3 Big Marketing Lessons from the RUSH Concert

Hi Everyone...

Sorry it has been a while since I posted anything here...As some of you may have heard, over the last few months I've been dealing with some on going family issues...But I'm getting back on track again and have a whole bunch of new and fun projects I'm getting started with...

The first one I'd like to mention is coming up next Thursday, July 29th...I'm going to be doing some free live one on one coaching via Skype...I'm setting aside two hours on to answer any questions you may have about marketing, online marketing or general business questions...

To get in on this add tedsmagic as a contact on skype...There will be two  1 hour sessions...First is from 10-11 Am (EST)...The second, 1-2 Pm (EST)...Just send me a message on skype and you will have 10 minutes to have your most pressing question answered...Questions will be taken in order and I'll try to answer as many as I can in each hour session...I'll see you then!

If you follow me on Facebook, you know that I recently went and saw my favorite band in concert this past Monday night!  I'm talking about RUSH!  Rush has been around for the past 38 years and they still know how to put on an incredible show!  Great music!  Cool and Fun Video!  Lasers!  It is a smorgasbord for the senses!

Here is lesson 1-Have a great product, service, show or presentation!  What can you add to your product or presentation to pump it up a notch!  How about Video!  Or an audio of the person your referencing in your speech.

Merchandising! Lesson 2-  Rush had a whole area set up where their fans could buy Rush T-shirts, Poster, Ball Caps, and even ladies Rush panties!  Every successful entrepreneur knows to sell product at the back of the room!  People want to take a piece of you home with them!  So what can you sell at the back of the room?

Here is the best marketing lesson!  My mentor Eric Paul used to call this "Salting their Appetite"! Rush played 2 new songs from their up-coming CD!  I would guess that half of the people at the concert did not even know they were doing a new CD!  But I can tell you that they can't wait to get their hands on it...myself included!  Brilliant Marketing!

The only way they could have made this better was to tell everyone where they could download the new songs from after the concert!

This is one of the best ways to market your services and products because it is so Easy to do and cost you almost nothing to implement!  All you have to do is keep people informed as to what they can expect from you in the future...a new product or services that will blow them away!  Just hint at what it will do for them or their business and get them excited about it!

Don't forget...You can get answers to your most pressing business or marketing questions next Thursday!  If you want to get a jump on everyone else you may post your questions or feedback in the comment section below!

See ya soon!

Productiveity

Here is a great question that was posed in the March issue of the Dan
Kennedy NO B.S. Marketing newsletter, "Really, How Productive
Are You?"

Dan gives several great examples of how many of us myself included,
squander our time without even realizing it.  Here is one I
found really interesting for sports fans!

According to the Wall Street Journal (1-15-10) the average 3 hour
broadcast of an NFL game breaks down to:

1)    67 minutes of players standing around

2)    17 minutes of replays

3)    3 minutes of Cheerleaders (should be more)

4)    65 minutes of commercials

5)    9 minutes of announcers on screen

6)    And 8 minutes of injured or celebrating players

This leaves just 11 minutes where the ball is actually in play!
This clearly illustrates how much time we waste.  Lucky for
us, Dan also suggest how we can monitor and fix the problem.
Here's Dan's sugestion to become more productive.

Dan say that if you hired someone top shadow you 24/7 for a week or so
and record your productivity, you would get an accurate picture of how
you spend your time/waste your time and how productive you actual are.

I'm not going to hire someone to shadow me. Instead I'm doing the next
best thing. I've decided, that for the next week I'm going to keep a
productivity journal. I'm using a plain notebook and pen to record
everything I do from the moment I get up till I go to bed at night. I'm
also recording how long on spend on each activity.

I challenge you to do the same or similar exercise. It will give you a
concise picture of what you are really doing with your time. It will
also point out your distractions and time drainers so that they can be
eliminated or at least monitored and control as much as possible, thus
making you more productive!

Today is day 1 for me. and it has taken me around 20 minutes so far to
post this. Sometime next week I will post the results of my biggest
time drainers and distractions. Based on today, the phone is a big one!

I also wanted to share with you our latest episode of my new online
show, "Ted's Tips for Success!" In this broadcast I share how to form,
structure and run your own mastermind group! It was alot of fun but
right towards the end my browser crashed so it ends abruptly! It was
still a great program though and full of some great info. you can use
to build or multiply your business!

So check it out if you like!

Greatest Success Secret

http://tedsfunmeetingsnow.blogspot.com Speaker and Marketer Ted Peterson shares the Greatest Success and personal development Secret of all time! Its probably not what you think it is! This is where the rubber really meets the road and where most people drop the ball. Ted fumbles through his first live broadcast on Ustream!

Tips for setting worthwhile goals

The key to setting and achieving a goal is, simply, figuring
out where you want to end up. But articulating a specific,
achievable goal is not so simple a task.Whether it’s a
business objective or a personal one, you need to be able
to write down what the goal is and the steps you need to
take in order to get there. In other words, you need a road
map. Here’s how to create one:

1. You’ll need five sheets of paper. On the first sheet,
write down what you would like to achieve in your life,
now and through the decades. Brainstorm ideas, keeping
“the big picture” in mind. These are your long-term goals.
Remember, that to set goals that are unattainable will only
result in frustration. So try to set goals that are challenging
and motivating but not unrealistic.

2. On the second sheet of paper write down your personal
goals for the next year. This is your short-term list.
Consider things like family, personal growth, career,
spiritual and financial goals. Develop emotional reasons
why you want to attain these goals.

3. Next, compare the two sheets of paper. Your short-term
goals should help you in some way attain your long-term
goals. If not, you should re-evaluate your short-term goals.
Also, cross out any goals that you are not willing to pay
the price to achieve. There is no point in having a goal that
you are not willing to make happen through sacrifice or
hard work.

4. On the third sheet of paper write down the job goals
that you would like to achieve in the next 12 months.

5. Now compare these short-term work goals with your
short-term personal goals. Note any work and personal
goals that overlap because you will be most effective in
achieving those goals that blend personal and work
objectives.

6. Review each of the three lists, picking one goal from
each list that is most important to you. Write these three
goals on a fourth sheet of paper. Under each objective, list
the activities you must do to attain the goal.

7. On the fifth sheet of paper, list the activities you must
do tomorrow to move you toward each of your three most
important goals. This is your “To Do List.”Write a new
“To Do List” every day or week as you complete the small
tasks.

8. Establish a system for measuring your progress. For
example, you might try creating a time line or matrix chart
so that you can visually monitor how much you have
accomplished and how far you have to go.

9. Finally, remember that success is defined by the
realization of a worthwhile goal. So if you’re moving
forward toward attainment, even if you’re not there yet,
you are successful!

section!

Welecome to 2010

Welcome To 2010!  In case you missed me on Facebook or Twitter, Happy New Year and Thanks for reading Ted Peterson's Fun Meetings and Presentations, Marketing and Success Strategies! I really hope that the information and ideas shared here are making a difference in your life!

So...it's a brand new year!  What are you planning to do with it??? The keyword here is
obviously Planning!  Have you put any thought into it? What would you like to accomplish this year that would would really blow you away and have a massive impact on your life?  Maybe its loosing 20 pounds or spending more time with someone special in your life.  Maybe you want to start a business or find a better job.

Stop reading for just a moment and really think about what you would like to
achieve over the next year! Have you thought about it?  Good.  Now keep in mind that our Focus determines our reality!

Now have you set any resolution or written down your goals for 2010?  If you have you are already so far ahead of the majority of people out there.  Most people spend more time putting together their  shopping list or planning a vacation than they do planning their lives.  In fact less than 1% of the population has a written set of goals.

Here are a few things that you can apply right now to your life that will help you reach some of those goals quicker with greater success.  Some may seem Easy... but don't underestimate the power they have to create positive change in your life!

1)  It's not enough to just think about how you would like your life to be different.  Until you put pen to paper and write out specifically want to achieve it is not a goal...It is merely a dream.  You also need to be as specific as you can be when writing out your goals.  Its not enough to say I want to loose weight or make more money.  How much do you want to make and when do you want to make it?  Goals are written down, are committed  to and get results.  Dreams are things that we think about doing someday....

2)  Set your goals as High as your comfortable setting them!  This is so important!  Most people set their goals to low.  This usually we are afraid that if we set our goals to high we won't be able to achieve them and we over compensate by setting our goals with where we are comfortable.  You want to set your goals high enough to stretch yourself just outside  of your comfort zone!

3)   You need to take action right away!  ACTION is the key to all success!  So take out a pen and paper Right Now, while your thinking about it, and write down your goals for 2010!  Action creates motion and more importantly result. It is the the most important factor in determining  your success or failure.  Dare to be a little different this year and write outyour goals now for 2010!

4)   Did you write out your goals for 2010?  Great!  Now reward yourself with a cappuccino or some other small thing that you will really enjoy!  Rewards are a critical part of setting goals.  It is the part that is most left out of the process.

But you need to have rewards for reaching your goals!  The rewards create a sense of urgency and motivation for  accomplishing our goals.  Many people leave this step out thinking that obtaining the goal will give them the motivation to reach their goal and it usually does not work.  Reward yourself with each goal that you accomplish and you will have more motivation to accomplish the rest of your goals!  So write down how you will reward yourself for reaching each of your goals.  Then reward yourself for this as well!  I'm having another cappuccino!

If some of this seems like work that's because it is work!  My Mom used to say "Nothing worth having comes with out a  little hard work" and she is right!  This is meaningful though.  It has the power to massively change your life for the better
and make 2010 one of the best years of your life.

Ok that's more than enough for right now!  Be on the look out for our next post with 4-5 more tips you can use for achieving more than you thought possible in 2010!  I'll be sharing more Goal strategies and some time management tips as well.

Please feel free to share your thoughts or own personal tips for reaching your goals in the comment
section!
